And New York, Baby! Too
We have just read two brilliant and beautiful books illustrated by Ward Jenkins and would recommend them to anyone taking tiny travel companions on a tour of San Francisco or New York.
In fact the illustrations in San Francisco, Baby! and New York Baby! are so powerful, they bring these two cities to life in your mind. You can almost taste the San Francisco shrimps at the wharf and smell the freshly baked bagels in New York.
The two books, priced £7.99, and published by Chronicle Books, tell the story of two babies who go on two big-city adventures, describing all the exciting sights they see on their way.
In New York, Baby! the journey takes in Times Square, Broadway, Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can just imagine rolling in the grass and playing in Central Park, and craning your neck to see the top of the Empire Sate.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Baby!, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz are top of the tourist list. Look at the pictures and feel the sun on your face in the Haight, or pretend you are one of the people taking a rattling ride on one of San Francisco’s famous cable cars.
The books have rhyming text to match the gorgeous illustrations and are perfect as a mini tour guide, giving you a fun and colourful itinerary of the top things to do in San Francisco and New York.
Parents with babies and big-city dreams – these are definitely the books for you!
